Neotron's Sustainable Solutions: Enhancing Efficiency in Laboratory HVAC Systems

Neotron has implemented several changes to improve the heating, ventilation and cooling of its laboratory premises. Here are the changes the lab has made:
Optimization of temperature control
Neotron has optimized its automatic (DESIGO CC) control and manual control of HVAC system with new setting levels and parameters. As a result, its facilities have consumed less energy due to a reduction of the heating system’s temperature, from 24 degrees to 20 degrees during winter and the air conditioning from 21 degrees to 27 degrees during summer.
Upgraded Siemens Building Management System
Neotron upgraded its Siemens Building Management System (DESIGO CC) and installed new devices (sensors, controllers) in its new/renovated Metals and Pharma labs and new heating meters/multimers to monitor energy consumption.
DESIGO CC is a micro-processor based system which centralizes and simplifies controlling, monitoring, operation and management of heating, air-conditioning, ventilation & other building services to achieve:
- A safe and comfortable working environment,
- Energy saving & efficient operation,
- At reduced time & cost.
Switching off the heating and air conditioning systems, outside of normal working hours, reduced the total operating time by 25% and resulted in lower energy consumption.
Other sustainable changes include:
- No personal heating devices in the offices and laboratories,
- Replacement of some of the lighting lamps with LED ones,
- Shutting down extractor hoods when no one is at the workstation.
These steps have already reduced Neotron’s electrical consumption by 6% compared to year 2022!
