Geo-Chem Launches New Food Testing Lab in Unjha, Gujarat, India

We are pleased to announce that Geo-Chem India, part of the Cotecna Group, has launched a dedicated food testing laboratory, inaugurated by Shri. Avinash MAHESHWARI, Director/ CEO of Geo-Chem India.  

The new lab is in Unjha, Gujarat (western part of India) a region known for its spices, oilseeds, psyllium husks, and more. 

The expansion strengths Geo-Chem's position as a leading laboratory in India and supports the global food safety requirements from farm to fork. The new strategic location allows Geo-Chem to offer faster and reliable testing services closer to production and processing in the region.

Food Safety Meet

Alongside the inauguration of the Unjha lab, Geo-Chem also hosted a Food Safety Meet. The session was graced with the participation by Shri. Dinesh Patel, Ex-Chairman of APMC (Agricultural Produce & Livestock Market Committee); Shri. Ashwin Nayak, Founder, Shri. Tejas Gandhi, Chairman, Shri. Ajay Goyal, Secretary of FISS (Federation of Indian Spice Stakeholders); Shri Ashwin Nayak, President, Shri. Tina Bhai, Vice President of Isabgol Processors Association; Shri. VJ. Chaudhary, Class I F&DCA; Shri. Udayakumar Karthik, Director of Asian Spices and several representatives from Trade & Industry.

The speakers highlighted the emerging food safety concerns and testing requirements like 600+ pesticide residues, Pyrrolizidine Alkaloids, ETO, Allergens, Adulterants, MoSH & MoAH, Salmonella, and more. 

In light of increasing concerns over unreliable testing services, particularly due to poor reliability of results, the speakers commended Geo-Chem's decades-long dedication to ethical practices and the delivery of credible, consistent test results. 

The meet facilitated the discussion of strategy and solutions addressing: 

• Emerging food safety regulations
• Challenges in compliance and testing
• Collaborative solutions for a safer, more transparent food ecosystem

The facility is well-equipped to handle a wide range of testing requirements, including but not limited to physico-chemical testing, residue and contaminants testing. The new addition consolidates Geo-Chem as one of the largest independent food testing laboratories in India.
