Cotecna Attends the 114th Annual Harare Agriculture Show

Cotecna was pleased to attend the 114th Annual Harare Agricultural Show, an event running under the theme "Cultivating Prosperity, Growing Business. Innovating for Change. Nurturing Our Future”.
As a global leader in testing, inspection and certification services, Cotecna took this opportunity to demonstrate its commitment to supporting Zimbabwe's agricultural sector by informing stakeholders on the vital role of the Consignment-Based Conformity Assessment (CBCA) program. This program is essential for facilitating the seamless importation of agricultural equipment and spare parts into Zimbabwe.
As Zimbabwe’s agricultural sector experiences rapid expansion, the demand for advanced agricultural equipment and spare parts has surged. This growth is highlighted by government projections, which estimate that the sector will increase by 9.7% in the coming years, with a target to reach $13.75 billion by 2025. Dr. Anxious Masuka, Minister of Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water, and Rural Development, emphasized these ambitious goals, underscoring the importance of equipping farmers with the necessary tools to sustain this growth.
At the Harare Agricultural Show, Cotecna focused on providing crucial insights to importers, exporters, and local businesses regarding the CBCA program. Our experts were on hand to explain the CBCA certification process, detailing how it helps streamline the importation of agricultural equipment and spare parts, new and used vehicles ,as well as other general goods under Zimbabwe’s regulated product list. This program is not only about regulatory compliance but also about safeguarding the interests of Zimbabwean farmers by ensuring that the equipment they use is reliable, efficient, and conducive to their productivity.
As an authorized body under Zimbabwe’s Ministry of Industry and Commerce (MoIC), Cotecna has the authority to issue Certification of Conformity under the CBCA program. This certification is mandatory for all regulated products, including agricultural equipment and spare parts, entering Zimbabwe. The CBCA program ensures that these products are inspected and certified before they reach Zimbabwean soil, thus protecting the local market from substandard goods and reinforcing the agricultural sector’s sustainability.
Cotecna’s close collaboration with Zimbabwe’s Ministry of Industry and Commerce ensures that these requirements are met efficiently, helping importers navigate the certification process smoothly. This efficiency is critical for Zimbabwean farmers who depend on timely access to high-quality equipment to enhance their agricultural operations.
